Maligning Buhari is Haram Re: Ombatse killers must be punished – Buhari

Thank you very seriously Nebu (apology Chief Zebu)! May your tribe increase!

Also, in response to Nafata's mischievous poser "in the aftermath of Kaduna Sharia riots in the year 2000 that left over 1000 dead, didn't Buhari publicly dissent from the National Council of States directive that northern states to revert to the status quo ante with regards to Sharia?"; GMB only "claimed THERE WAS NO COUNCIL DECISION that directed state governors to suspend introduction of sharia legal system". Period!

Anyone interested in the history of Shariah implementation in Nigeria, the riots, discuss, etc, can go through the document I attached and the following references.

"In the aftermath of Kaduna Sharia riots in the year 2000 that left over 1000 dead, didn't Buhari publicly dissent from the National Council of States directive that northern states to revert to the status quo ante with regards to Sharia?" Nafata,

The problem with Nigerians is that they like to hate on Buhari and they pitifully carry on that hating based on purely fraudulent and baseless information. It troubles me that seemingly enlightened Nigerians, like Nafata Bamaguje, fail to investigate what they attribute to or accuse Buhari of doing, and for which they hate him. Time after time, I have refuted falsehoods peddled against Buhari (and so have other honesty valuing Nigerians), yet the lies continue to trickle in, such that Buhari could yawn today and some Nigerians would report tomorrow that he yelled.

Nafata, who is beginning to sound like Dominic Ogbonna to me, just made up or repeated a barefaced lie against Buhari, on account of which he hates the man. The truth is that what Nafata attributed to Buhari above is a distortion of what happened.

The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (henceforth FRN)grants the states and the Federal Capita Territory the authority to establish sharia courts (see section 277(1)(2) for states and section 365(1) for FCT). Some states in Nigeria's North exercised that right by establishing sharia courts during Obasanjo's presidency. Noisy Nigerian Christians, who dumbly acquiesced in 1979 and 1999 to constitutions that made provisions for sharia courts, in inexplicable and groundless paranoia, began to protest the implementation of sharia laws and courts in the North.

Two successive federal Attorneys General, Bola Ige and Kanu Agabi, notified president Obasanjo (when he sought their counsel over that matter) that sharia implementing states were in compliance with the constitution of FRN (to his credit Obasanjo publicly admitted having been so counseled). President Obasanjo, in his vintage mischief making, sought refuge from the fireworks from christians by getting the National Council of States to issue a stupid cease and desist directive to the sharia practicing states. Muhammadu Buhari, an unapologetic stickler to the rule of law, informed Obasanjo and the NCS that their directive was unconstitutional, and as such, reused himself from such an unconventionality.

In a country made up of human beings who cherish integrity and honesty, Buhari would be perpetually hailed over his stand in defending the constitution of Nigeria. Alas, we are dealing with an accursed nation like Nigeria where the upright in character are maligned, while crooks are accepted as statesmen. The sad part of Nigeria's accursed state is that bright young folks like Nafata have no qualms going along with the curse of cuddling mediocrity and degradation while expecting Nigeria to get better.

That a young brilliant man like Nafata finds it fanciful to steadily repeat and propagate lies against Buhari makes me lose hope that Nigeria will get better even in the next 200 years.

Boko Haram has repeatedly stated it is fighting for full scale imposition of Sharia. Isn't it therefore logical to conclude that Buhari and Boko Haram are ideological bedfellows? Nafata

It is absolutely illogical for anyone with an IQ of at least 100 to draw such a conclusion. Buhari has never advocated sharia implementation anywhere; all that he has done was indicate that the states that have implemented sharia were within their constitutional rights to do so. His indication is constitutionally factual and very statesmanlike.

As Head of state, he never implemented sharia, he never advocated it, and he took steps to curtail the of abuse of pilgrimage to Mecca by Muslims -- he slashed the basic traveling allowance (BTA) to Mecca and forbade under aged children from being taken to Mecca in their own recognizance. In other words, since the Koran only expects Muslims to go to Mecca at least once in a lifetime (if they can afford to do so) and there is no injunction that children should be taken to Mecca, Buhari, a true Muslim, reasoned that the ostentatious ways of Nigerians were the reasons behind dragging children to Mecca while draining the nation's foreign exchange in the process. He insisted that parents who elected to take their wards to Mecca would not be allowed extra BTA for the children. In addition, when the Muslim Maitasine murderous militants disturbed the peace, Buhari wasted no time in wiping out those who resisted surrender and prosecuted, to the fullest extent of the law, those who were captured.

How can any human being who values the truth equate a man with this stellar record, on observing secularity, with Boko Haram militants? Nafata, bear in mind that you are under no obligation to support Buhari or to even like him. But if you are an honest human being, then you are under obligation to not peddle lies against Buhari or against any other human being.

Take care for now, buddy.

Apparently you didn't read the part where I stated that the Ombatse killers should be brought to book. That doesn't negate the fact that an invasion force of over one hundred security agents to arrest an 80 year old man was definitely an overkill.

This is particularly so because prior to that horrendous Alakyo massacre, not even the Police or SSS claimed the Ombatse cultists killed anyone. The worst they were accused of, was forcing people to swear oath of allegiance to the Eggon nation.

Consequently the heavy handed security invasion prompted local suspicion that another Baga style massacre was underway… particularly as a few months earlier in December 2012 a small band of soldiers inexplicably attacked the same area.

"Even controversial Toyin is beginning to detect the FALSE statements and outright spew of lies by the Islamaphobic Nafata." – Ibrahim Sanyi

Could you be more specific as to my purported lies about Buhari?

In the aftermath of Kaduna Sharia riots in the year 2000 that left over 1000 dead, didn't Buhari publicly dissent from the National Council of States directive that northern states to revert to the status quo ante with regards to Sharia?

Boko Haram has repeatedly stated it is fighting for full scale imposition of Sharia. Isn't it therefore logical to conclude that Buhari and Boko Haram are ideological bedfellows?

To be candid, I don't for one moment believe Buhari is anymore of an Islamist than any of the other run-of-the-mill northern Muslim politicians, but until the gaffe-prone demagogue of an ex-tyrant stops running his mouth carelessly as he plays to the gallery of his Islamist core North base, we will continue to hold him accountable for his ill-thought incendiary and provocative utterances.
